Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has officially opened India’s first Aqua Tech Park located in Bogibari, Sonapur, which represents a major advancement towards achieving self-sufficiency in fish production.
The park was established through a partnership involving NABARD, ICAICIF, the Assam government, CELCO Foundation, and GIZ.
This Aqua Tech Park is designed to be a center for innovative aquaculture practices, with the goal of enhancing fish production and creating job opportunities for the youth in Assam. Chief Minister Sarma mentioned that the park will act as a benchmark for fisheries development and emphasized the government’s initiatives to revitalize the fisheries sector through programs such as PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and SWIFT.
The launch of the Aqua Tech Park is anticipated to play a crucial role in Assam’s progress towards self-reliance in fish production.
