The recruitment notice for Lecturer for Technical and Non-Technical for various Government Polytechnics of Assam was out on 30-12-2024 at their official website.
In case of technical, the posts for lecturer are in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical(Automobile) Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Mining Engineering, Printing Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Textile Chemistry and Textile Technology.
Civil Engineering has a total number of 49 vacancies, out of which 16 are reserved for women. Mechanical Engineering has a total of 26 vacancies, 8 are reserved for women, while Electrical Engineering has a total of 31 vacancies, out of which 10 are reserved for women.
Pay Scale and In-hand Salary of a Lecturer in Assam
Candidates who have passed B.Tech, BE or 4 years BS, in relevant fields, will get a pay scale in pay level 9A, which ranges from Rs. 56,100-Rs. 1,77,500 and other allowances. The Basic Pay here is Rs. 56,100.00 , on which all the other allowances will be calculated.

How to become a Lecturer in Assam?
To become a Lecturer in Government Polytechnics of Assam you have to go through two stages.
The first stage is a Multiple Choice Question(MCQ) based written test of 75 marks. In this test each question carries 1 mark for each correct answer, while there is a negative marking of 1/3 for each wrong answer.
One who clears the written test is qualified for the second level of test, which is a Teaching Proficiency Test or TPT of 25 marks.
Lecture Delivery in TPT
- You’ll draw one topic by lottery from a basket of 10 subjects‑related topics.
- You have 7 minutes to present your lecture and interact with the board.
Second Choice Option
- If you’re unhappy with your first topic, you may opt for a 2nd choice.
- Important: Once you pick a second topic, you cannot go back to the first.
Timing & Interaction
- Total time per candidate: 7 minutes, including any Q&A or discussion with board members.

Shortlisted candidates are allowed to appear for the TPT.
